Student Journal

The department is proud to support the CEU Political Science Journal - The Graduate Student Review, a student initiative back from 2005/06. It was a group of graduate students decided to launch a journal that, in its procedures - and indeed even in its language of communication – emulates the best academic journals of our time. Manuscripts are solicited from all members of a virtual community only united by a shared interest in analyzing politics in a truly scholarly - if you like, scientific - way, and not divided by political, linguistic, institutional, and social network boundaries. The manuscripts are peer reviewed in a double-blind system where only academic merit can count; the authors receive feedback on reasons of rejection or expected improvements; and the target audience of the journal is no more and no less than the whole universe of potential contributors.

The Journal has entered its second year of existence with a fresh look and by an expanded body of reviewers and advisors, with increasing members of academia joining us in our efforts to build a competitive publication. While the journal successfully co-opted collaborators from other universities, the main work remains in the hands of students, alumni and faculty of the Political Science department at the Central European University. Besides the electronic version of the journal, printed copies are available with the partial funding offered by the department. The editorial board established a distribution network for the printed version of the Journal covering many universities throughout Europe, which is a good opportunity for authors to make their work known in the academic environment.
